My arborvitae next to my patio  does not look happy at all. Normally you wouldn’t see the yellow corner of my house:

Snow Business….

Lot’s of it!

2010 blizzard 1

This is this morning, after shoveling twice yesterday, and again this morning (no work! Yay!) Another gray & dismal shot of the snow-covered trees:

2010 blizzard 2

We ended up with about a foot. It came down dry & powdery, then we had some rain mixing in to make it wet & heavy. This morning was also wet & heavy, turning dry & powdery- the old “If you don’t like it, wait a minute…” maxim.

I made out like a bandit with presents:

look at these:

xmas2010haul The kids got me ALL of the charts I had posted about in November! Em even asked the sellers to NOT show their return addresses as anything stitchy since I retrieve the mail! How clever! Plus they got me a 500 GB external hard drive so I can back up my stuff, PLUS a new pair of work boots PLUS a bunch of new ornaments PLUS a book about Secretariat PLUS a bunch of chocolates & coffee & other little goodies! My mom sent a package of pecans and a check (THANKS Mom!)

The kids gave Chicken a Snuggie (LOL) and a new coat and several toys that she loves (she’s much better, acting more like her happy self every day):

Notice her shaved butt. I tried sticking bows around her satellite dish, but they kept falling off.

We had a fun day. I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast (me), churros for Emily, eggs & sausage for Adam. They went out to visit Emily’s cousin from my “out”-laws while I went down to visit Bob.

When we were all back home, we had braised short ribs, from the Short Rib lasagna recipe I posted a while back, plus PW Creamy mashed potatoes, and broccoli. YUM!

I hope you all had a very nice holiday; thanks for visiting with me and leaving your nice comments- I do appreciate them!

I Don't Know Why...

Blogger asks if I want to be remembered for log-in, but then it never does.

Anyway:

Stuff:
Here's a progress pic of my Wish Ornament:

Jeeshh!! I just spent 20 minutes looking for the floss & fabric pckg for this- I looked thru everything in my bag at least 3 times!
Anyway- it's 28 ct. Cashel Carnival (Picture This Plus)
with Weeks Bethlehem floss over one.

Here's Bent Creek's Snowbound:
It's about the same size as my progress on the Wish ornament- go figure!
I'll finish as an ornament. This was quick- about 6 hours of stitching tops.

Below are three of the motifs from the Paradigm Lost chart to be finished as individual ornaments.
I bought Christmas-y jewel-toned flosses- I can't remember which brand, and for fabric I used some stashed 32-ct toile (cheap stuff) which unfortunately is not even- it's as much as 1/4" bigger in one direction than the other, the designs being all symmetrically square or round, etc.

Last week i didn't go to stitching night because of my cold, but I did stop in because our Group SAL had arrived: Random Thoughts of Spring by Erica Michaels. I'm doing mine on 32 ct.
Antque white Jobelan with Crescent Colors "Cottage Garden" floss. I can't wait to see what everyone else is doing.
It's frickin' freezing outside!!!
I need to get to bed.

Blah!

Last night I had to go to the Planning board re: the re-zoning, and ride Axie beforehand.
I'm also starting to come down with Emily's cold/flu thing.
I've been reading other bloggers have been sick- we must be spreading germs.
I bought 2 different fleeces to make Axie soem jammies: flames and a plaid. I'll (someday) take pictures & post.
I started Bent Creek's Snowbound at work today, and finished up the third of my ornaments. Again, pix to follow.......someday.
I need to get to bed.
