F***ing Brilliant!

You may not know, but I'm a huge Florida 'Gators fan. My younger brother is an alum- class of  '85. It was because of him (so goes the legend) that a lot of rules regarding frat parties were instituted. I wear my 'Gators ball cap every morning, with pride, on my walks and at the barn. And I especially love me some Tim Tebow. I've watched him his whole time at Florida, rejoiced at his Bowl wins & championships- I think he's an exceptional role model for today's kids who aspire to any kind of organized athletic teams. I as happy he was picked up by Denver, although Bill Belicheck spent a lot of time with him before the draft, so I kind of got my hopes up that he’d be on the Patriots.

Tomorrow night, Tebow and the Broncos take on the New England Patriots- my favorite  NFL team. I'm torn as to who I want to win. I guess I'll be happy whatever the outcome  %^P

A Face book friend posted this video from Jimmy Fallon. It is absolutely hysterical!

Let it Snow...

I've started the snow on PS Christmas Eve:

PS XMAS eve8

My plan is to add blending filament to the snowflakes, so I'm holding off on those as long as possible.

In other snow news, the Patriots opened a can of whoop-ass all over the Tennessee Titans. They were doomed as soon as the snow started.

Snow was still on the shady areas of the ground at work by the time I left this afternoon.

I had an eye exam tonight. The nice doctor showed me the huge difference readers/bifocals would make. And the nice receptionist kept adding double and triple digits to the $99 price on their "value" eyeglasses, first for progressive-ness, then for ultra-lite lenses. I used the excuse that I need Em with me to pick out frames because I can't see myself to know how good bad I look in any particular frames, and walked out with my prescription. Plus, when I asked if I could get over the counter readers for stitching, he immediately said "NO!" Maybe because of my nearsightedness issses? I'm pretty sure BJ's or someone offers 2 pairs for $99. I bet I could get a pair of readers and a pair of distance glasses for that deal.

I'm getting anxious to start The Pumpkin Conspiracy; i might pick out fabric from my stash tonight.....

Yoo-Hoo!!! I'm baaaaaack....

Well, I didn't go anywhere, just got consumed in horse related responsibilities and lawn-mowing on sweaty days. On top of that add a dash of Pm-PMS (Pre-menopausal PMS) , and a healthy swig of "I don't want to even look at that pile of papers that's burying my desk/computer" , and I just collapsed on the couch, too exhausted to even find anything good on TV. Here's my progress on Rites of Spring:

ROS 09

It's getting there; I bet I could finish it this week if I stitched in the evening....

Here's my JCS 2008 LHN ornament:

jcs silverblue ornament 02

Oops- it's kind of at a wonky angle.

Axe is starting her second week of the new joint supplement; she's not having any reaction to it (it contains a derivative of green-lipped mussels of all things- I had to check with her if she had shell fish allergies; as far as she remembers, the last time she ate scallops, she didn't break out with hives). I rode for the first time since last Wednesday and she seemed OK. I just walked & cantered though, and she might seem Ok because I haven't ridden. It usually takes a few weeks to see a difference, so I'm probably just being hopeful.

The Closer is on tonight- the last 3 episodes look like they'll be intense. Has anyone seen the previews of Grey's Anatomy premiere? Oh.My.God. Rose telling Derek she's "with his child", and Meredith screaming "NO" and crying thru what looks like a hospital window. That's all I could see without my glasses on,  getting dressed this morning. I hope I saw what I think I saw.

And let's all say a prayer for Tom Brady, shall we? Though he didn't impress me by NOT attending off-season conditioning camp this year for the first time. Perhaps he'd have had a bit more flexibility and "fixed" that bad foot if he had? I'm just saying is all.

My boys came up short :(

I'm sure some of you may have noticed the lack of any pre-SuperBowl references last week...

I give full credit and blame for the loss on Boston's dufus mayor Mumbles, who boastfully and stupidly divulged his plans for the "Parade" last Monday. He totally jinxed The Patriots. I'm sure come re-election (is it next year?), this poor display of judgment will factor heavily in the voter's tallies.

I didn't want to talk about the game at all in an effort to do my part in un-doing any hex or curse the football gods may have placed on the team. Alas and alack, it was not to be. I do give high props to the Giants defense- I was SO hoping someone would break that Tuck guy's leg, before he broke Tom's, but he played, his whole team played, PLAYED with heart, a hard-fought battle and won. Kudos to them.

And what was Belicheck thinking when he opted not to go for that field goal on 4th-and-was it 12? He's not going to forgive himself that one for the rest of his life.

I managed some stitching and will post pictures forthwith. Now let's get on with things and put this bad, depressing chapter behind us all.

Back Again...

Sorry- but I didn't even touch a computer since work last Friday afternoon- just lost my mojo I guess.
I finished my JBW Designs "Joy Love Peace Tree" at S&B, and worked some more on Creepy Kids- it just doesn't seem to show the progress very well... subtle it is. I also found a new chart that had some great critters that I can use to substitute for the Creepy Kids on the front lawn, but since I also didn't open my stitching bag since Thursday, I can't remember what it's called.
I made Cookie Madness Oatmeal Scones- talk about the yummy! Then I made Bob & I a small pork roast for Sunday dinner before the Patriots game.
The game the game the game...I was nervous going into it (surely not as nervous as the players, but when I tend live vicariously thru so many others, it DOES become somewhat personal) and watched with baited breath thru the whole thing- those Chargers came to Foxboro with a hair across their ass, and those are the teams that make me nervous! But my boys came thru - go Lawrence Mulroney! Can that kid run a ball or what??!! Tom Brady looked.... well....off? Disinterested? Distracted? He did his job, but not well. I know it was cold, but he seemed so disengaged with what was happening on the field when he was on the sidelines. He didn't even look excited that he had won. The other event that pissed me off was the fact that CBS didn't show the coin toss. At the Colts game last weekend, they honored the winners of the Pass, Kick & ?Jump? ?Run? contest. A girl from New Hampshire won the 14-16 age group, and was wearing a Patriots jersey (all the other winners were wearing jerseys from their favorite teams) and the Indy crowd booed her! talk about low class. Anyway, the Pats organization invited her to participate in yesterday's coin toss because they felt bad that she was booed, but the network DIDN'T show it! That was like a slap in the face all over again! I hope her family was able to tape it themselves from the sidelines. ....
Anyway. The wee Manning boy is also going to the Superbowl- how crazy is that? ANd yes, the fact that the Giants gave the Pats a run for their money 3 weeks ago is not making me particularly confident, especially when the Giants have their good players back from injury. Brady better show up to play in Arizona, is all I'm saying.

Bah Humbug!

I had to take my tree down today because Delilah had decided it was a good place to "nest". Rather than having a bunch of branches ruined by irreversible bending, and having a bunch of ornaments broken, I chose to take it down.

It really frosts my ass! This is the first time in about 20 years I've had to put the tree away before New Year's. I LOVE having the Xmas tree up! I love the ornaments and the twinkle of the lights; I love just walking by & moving an ornament to just the right spot, I love buying something new & special for the tree every year; I count the days until I can put it up (even if I can't find the time when that day comes). I especially love all the happy memories it evokes, from my childhood on up to Emily's. I always get a little sad when I finally have to take it down. It's as if I'm putting all those sweet memories away again for another year.
Damn that Delilah!
I left my Hallmark Santa & reindeers up on my hutch, and my snow house up. The lights are still up & on outside.

I started on of those JBW Design ornaments at work yesterday. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.
And all you Patriots fans- let's get our team jerseys on & do that voodoo on those Giants!

No Such Luck

Boss was here when I got in- DAMN!
But the Colts lost- Yippee! Manning wussy-boy had 6 interceptions & Adam Vinetieri missed a kick. Peyton must have gone thru 2-1/2 boxes of tissues last night. Giants lost too- gonna be suck-o-rama at the Manning Thanksgiving table!

Sour Grapes

Shula-Schmoola! An asterisk next to the Pats should they have an undefeated season????
Are you kidding me???
Video-gate was a crap claim made by a crap coach. EVERY team videos the opposing team's sideline, as well as play on the field- watch ANY game this weekend & watch all the clipboards covering coaching staff mouths. If coaches on every team are still preventing their lips from being read, that means that EVERY team is still concerned that their opponent is taping, whether they are playing the Patriots or ANY OTHER TEAM. And if all the teams have been and are still doing it, then EVERYONE is cheating, and NO ONE has an unfair advantage.
Meanwhile the Miami Dolphins routinely wet down their playing field to limit any good opposing running backs. (So there!) Shula had his undefeated season during a year when the NFL sucked anyways. It wasn't hard to achieve what they did. This year in the NFL also sucks; aside from the Pats, there's the Cowboys & the Steelers, and maybe Tennessee, other than that, there's not any competition. If the Patriots "deserve" an asterisk, then so do the Dolphins.
And down off my soapbox I go... this isn't in my blog description.

Take that!

Pats beat the girlie boys!
Ya' know- I wouldn't be so derogatory about the Colts if Manning could be a little more stoic, like my man Brady. (Swoon!) Peyton (and what woman in her right mind would ever give a boy such a sissie name??!! What was she thinking??) just looks like he's about to cry when things don't go his way.
Oh- and the officiating absotutley SUCKED dead llamas, and we still won! Yippee!

Post Storm...

So I survived the big storm. Lots of branches down, but no damage that I've detected yet. Emily came home with her roommate for the BSC show being hosted at our barn. I had to make chicken, broccoli & ziti for 20, with salad & garlic bread, drinks, chips, and cookies. I took as many shortcuts as possible: jarred sauce, packaged salad greens, store bought cookies, etc, but everyone seemd to like the spread, and were very appreciative. I also had to clean that black hole of a bedroom of Emily's. Took a couple of hours, but there's bare floor now- enough for several people to actually stand on!
The Pats are playing the Colts. It's half-time, and my guys are down 13-7. I hope they get a better handle on Indy the next half. I'm listening to the game- I can't watch, though I did see Adam Venitieri MISS his first field goal attempt, at a distance from which he's never missed before. Then the Pats got their TD.
I have to make a fire, after I do my daily jigsaw. I surely enjoyed my extra hour of sleep this morning!

Go Pats!!

52 - 0!! Matt Cassel just scored a TD! With more than 5 minutes left!
Chris Collingsworth can just go stuff it!! Bitching last week because the Pats "ran up the score".
Screw you Collingsworth- the game AIN'T over until the clock stops!

Fuzzy stuff

Here's Delilah:

all of a sudden she's gotten very fuzzy. Her tail is so puffed out- it looks like Aslan's tail when he's spooked! Don't tell anyone but she's on the table!! Where we eat!

The Patriots are slaughtering the Redskins. (Just got a TD- 44-0!!!) They just said next week they'll be playing the wussy girl cry-baby Manning & the Colts.

The Red Sox are playing Game 4 tonight. I wish they'd win the Series at home, but it would be nice to sew things up tonight.

Suck, Suck Suck!!

I'm OCD-ing about preparing my tax returns (Emily's too) so that I can THEN do my CSSPRofile & Fafasa.

I just did my return and I'll get a good refund, however I relaized while scanning my Xmas Sampler update that I didn't adjust for cash payments Em & the AF made.

Suck- REDO!

Colts won the SuperBowl-Suck #2!

No stitching this wekend-Suck #3- no time long story but here's the latest on Xmas Sampler:

I'll be angsting over tax-related documents the next few days- I can't be beholden to the blog with that crap hanging over my head. I'll try to get back soon.

Oh- and SUCK #4: bossman has been at work way too much so no stitching there either.

The Most Depressing Day...

according to a British doctor. I think it's because the Patriots lost to the evil Colts yesterday.
I'm typing one fingered- Chicken is on my lap licking my left hand.
Oh happy day! (Did I say anything about schitzophrenia?) I finished my Long Dog St.Georges last night! I want to iron it before I scan it. I've found from my Webshots photos that the wrinlkles show up big time.
I also joined a Yahoo LongDog group. I'm still trying to find a pleasing color way instead of plain DMC.
I also have to scan in the rest of my stash I got the other night.
Bob's cough has resurged, and I'm very worried. It's affecting his sleep.
Jess rode the Axe tonight, so I'm off the hook. The baby boy people are there now, too.
Last night I made a package of Betty Crocker sugar cookies but stirred in some chopped macadamias, white chocolate chips and craisins. They came out pretty good. It's not quite the flavor I was hoping for, I think becuase of the dough base. I'll try the same combo of mix-ins with a batch of blondies- I think it's a brown sugar background I want.
Tonight I'm cooking a chuck steak like a beef stew- everything like the stew except cutting the meat into pieces.
Then I Formaned a cheeseburger for me and slipped bits of meat to Chicken.
I'm chilly so I'm off to start a fire , do the dishes call Bob and try to stitch.
