Snoopy Dancin’ Time…..

Behold:

Quaker halloween1

A Quaker  Halloween Samplerby Cherished Stitches

on 40ct. ivory linen with Thread Gatherers’ Silk ‘N Colors of my choosing

I will have to do some snipping of hanging chads on the back, but it is done. I looked back & my first post about this was March 30, 2010. I did enjoy every minute of this one, though., even though I screwed up the bottom. Here’s my fix:

quaker halloween macro

I also threw in a couple of more bats and an extra cat in some of the unintended large voids.

I imagine I’ll find a couple of missed stitches when I do my snipping.

I just received my fabric for “Winter at Beacon House” from the Jan/Feb Just Cross Stitch magazine. I have to get my floss- there is a large quantity of floss required for that one, 5 skeins of the white, 4 of the oatmeal, 3 of the sea blue and reds, etc., plus all the individual skeins. I also have my eye on starting Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow, which I received as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. I have the fabric for that one too, and I have all the DMCs, and I think I bought the required multiple skeins of ice blue over dyed. I also need to get back to Hilltop Seasons. That’s been collecting dust in my bag….

Garden Growing by Leaps & Bounds..

I finished a ten-day stint barn-sitting, and I’m trying to get back to my normal routine. Chicken was at my BF’s for the 10 days, and was spoiled rotten; so much so that I think she’s unhappy at being home!

Here is my Garden Grew progress. I am now 3/4 done!

I have created a fix for my Quaker Halloween and installed an A/C in my downstairs office (formerly the kids’ room) in preparation for the Hotter-Than-Hades Heatwave Tour coming to a town near you soon. Chicken demanded that at the very least. She also wanted dropped eggs on toast for breakfast and a medium rare rib eye for supper, too.

Yeah, right….

Big Ooops!

Current progress on Quaker  Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween41

If you’re familiar with this design, you may be able to figure out my HUGE mistake. I think I can alter the last half medallion along the bottom edge, so that I won’t have to rip out a whole bunch of stuff….

Welcome to Crazy Town…

So Em trashed her ankle while falling off her horse going on 3 weeks ago. She found out today after 3 doctors, 2 sets of X-rays, an MRI and a CT scan that her heel bone is broken and she tore a (the?) ligament on the front of her foot/ankle.  So no riding for her for 6-8 weeks (ouch for me) nor driving either for at least the foreseeable future. Which means lots of running around for me.

Anyway, here is more Garden Grew progress:

Friday I got numb-butt:

All day to do this one basket (to the right of the trellis):

GG45 macro

Saturday involved helping the patient, so with little actual stitching time available, I finished the basket on a previously finished flower, plus had to add the badger. I didn’t take another overall shot after completing the little guy, but he’ll be adjacent to the basket of flowers above &  to the right of the  “all-day basket” in the photo up top.

Here’s the latest on Quaker Halloween:

I’m going to miss working on this one; it’s a ton o’ fun!

I’ve been remiss on posting my other stitchy progress:

I’ve now reached the bottom pages of Quaker Halloween.

As you can see, I now have dangling threads on both sides. A close-up of the wee spider below left of Mr.. Squirrel:

And a tiny, boring bit of progress on Hilltop Seasons:

I needed some spring color for motivation.

The white lattice is a bitch. Count, re-count, unstitch, re-stitch. But that’s what we like to do for fun.

Look-y!!

HinH Wee Santa 2010 3

Heart in Hand’s “Wee Santa 2010”. I had enough of the GA “Cranberry”; I have about 18” of a full strand left, plus two ply of another 18”. Phew! All I have left to do is to finish the border, and his cheeks and sew on 3 buttons.

I’m also back on track with Quaker Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween35

Here’s a close-up of my fixed -mistake:

I love the little bat! I’m thinking of personalizing with the names of my pets. Still not entirely sure….

As Promised….

Here is my latest on Quaker Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween34

Here’s a close-up of my mistake:

CS Quaker Halloween34A

That spider has to be moved one stitch to the right.

This is what it should look like:

Cs Halloween chart edit

I tried to watermark with “Cherished Stitches”, but my photo editing skilz are non-existent.

I helped the 2 guacamoles do some painting today. I cut in the living room ceiling, and put the first coat of primer on the medium size bedroom. Adam went behind me and painted the living room ceiling while poor Emily valiantly scraped and pried the pig (who in their frikkin’ right mind would think PIGS would make a “cute” kitchen motif???) border off the kitchen walls. Success on all fronts!

As Promised…..

Here are photos of my progress on my last 2 ornaments:

HinH “Wee Santa 2010”:

HinH Wee Santa 2010 2

I’ve started biting my nails over whether I have enough of the red floss to finish his cape!

Here’s my Rosewood Manor Snowflake:

RM LaceSnowflake3

The beads will be a bitch on this, I’m sure.

I spent almost the entire S & B pulling out the errant spider web on Quaker Halloween; as I finished the border for the motif I realized tonight that the one spider (who kindly pointed out my counting error) I had stitched is also off by the one stitch, so he’ll have to be removed too. I’ll try for a picture tomorrow so you can see what I’m talking about. Bah!

Jeez Louize!

It’s been a week since i last posted??

You know you’re  a bad blogger when you don’t even go look at your OWN blog! What can I say- this winter has sucked all ambition out of me! I wake in the middle of the night thinking “Is the furnace working? Are any pipes leaking??” Then when i don’t hear any drips, and the furnace kicks on, I eventually fall asleep thinking, “It’s so cold the furnace is running constantly! And oil is close to $3.50 a gallon, it’ll cost me over $600 to fill the tank again….” and around and around my mind spins.

I’m trying to find my stitching mojo, i think it’s buried outside in a snow bank… I finally picked up December’s Snowflake again:

RM LaceSnowflake2 and this as well:

January’s Santa:

HinH Wee Santa 2010 1

The Quaker Halloween squirrel is finished:

CS Quaker Halloween33A

but I still have a ways to go:

CS Quaker Halloween33

I’ve got a loaf of Honey Oatmeal Bread spinning in the machine, and I have a handful of soup recipes printed out from Tasty Kitchen. I’d be good to go except I can’t find those 2 boneless chicken breasts I put in the freezer a couple of weeks ago.

Oh My!

Posts in 2 consecutive days! We had stitching night tonight- lots of fun with Joanne, Jeanne, Linda & Deb. Joanne, our hostess, made Pioneer Woman’s Bacon Wrapped Parmesan cracker-thingys (I think that’s what she called them!)Yummy!

I finally took photos of Quaker Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween32

Here’s a close-up of Mr. Squirrel:

CS Quaker Halloween32A

The chart shows him holding an acorn bouquet, and I think there’s another acorn to the right of his tail, which is not quite finished. I believe that the motif I’ve started to the lower right of Mr. Squirrel is the bottom right corner of the design.

UGG! They just teased the weather forecast: single digit temperatures. My icicle lights will be up until July!

Digging out….

I’m alive!

I have been stitching a little, too:

my alternate December ornament:

RM LaceSnowflake

This is Rosewood Manor’s “Victorian Lace Snowflake” from the 2007 JCS ornament issue with DMC……..crap! where did my thread go???? on some kind of antique white even weave. And here’s my January ornament:

HinH Wee Santa 2010

Heart in Hand’s “Wee Santa 2010” on a 28 ct. Dirty Linen with suggested threads. This is one of my presents from Em & DB.

I also resumed my Quaker Halloween, but alas and alack, no picture today (I don’t feel like it!)

It hasn’t been very conducive blogging-wise lately. I’ve been fretting about the mess my house is in, but I took care of a lot of it by finally getting sick of my Xmas stuff being up and finally putting it all away Saturday. The mess made me not have a good place for photos. Plus Chickie keeps wanting to go out a soon as I start something, be it cooking, cleaning, typing, napping; you name it, I start to do it, and she needs to go out. She’s had a few accidents in the peeing department. So when I get an inkling that she needs to go, we GO! (Not that she’s good at giving hints either- I think she’s reading Stewie’s blogs over at the Spinster’s.)  Other  than that, she’s well on the mend, although the vet neglected to sign the spay certificate, which means I have to stop there one day after work so I can get my reduced-fee dog license. Here she is bring guilty:

bad chickie3

Here’s a picture of Aslan:

aslan

He loves to hang out under the lamp. He hasn’t figured out that the fluorescents don’t emit heat like the incandescent. I’ve been giving him a spoonful or so of Chicken’s canned dog food (a new post-surgical development) twice a day to try to put some weight on him. He loves it!

I made a big pot of chili Saturday, and had it cooking in the oven while I packed things away. It came out very yummy!

My local town rebels and I have been keeping tabs on our town government still, just to keep them honest. It seems like they routinely have pertinent issues on their various agenda that require our vigilance.

More snow for Wednesday. My boss has already said the words “snow day”! YAY! Of course. it’s all dependant on those wicked awesome meteorologists. So accurate, dont’cha know.

Boo!

Quaker Halloween update:

That fire hydrant under “Boo” is actually a tombstone. I still have to put “RIP” on it.

More stitching!

I was able to put a huge chunk of time in on Quaker

Since

I need a post, here’s my update of Quaker Halloween:

CS Quaker Halloween28

Here’s a close-up of the skeleton heads:

IMG_0383

I  still haven’t figured how I’m going to personalize it- I’m thinking all my black pets’ names, or maybe my family names/initials.

We had our rabble-rowser victory party this afternoon; I came home early to walk Chicken and to watch the Breeder’s Cup race. Zenyatta lost by a head. %^(
