ACK!!!

I know, Iknow-- it's been a while. My compouter here at home has been sucking dead llamas.

The longer I use it, the longer it takes to get a response from a mouse click. The worst is being online. It's eiteher my comnputer (Not my typing skills!!) or Verizon is deliberatley making the low-speed FIOS even slower, in an evil effort to force me to upgrade to the next higher speed for $10 more a month.

I do have progress on my 2 biscornus. The last time I tried to upload it didn't work. My scanner doesn't seem to be connectd anymore- no clue as to how THAT happened. Maybe I accidentally upgraded to XP SP2.

We started a new person on the weekend-nights feed. That will save me a ton of aggravation of having to go back. She seems to be of a sane-horse -person sort. As opposed to the barnful of nutty wackjobs we have as boarders.

I promise to TRY to get some photos. I know it's boring to read a blog of a total stranger without some visual interset, but aren't you enjoying the Decipher-the-Typo game?

Lets see:

Blurry Xmas biscornu (but you asked for it)

Freebie biscornu with Hawaiin Sunset TG silk on the stash scrap fabric.More thread gatherer's silks. Don't feel like getting teh nameas right now.

I have to go back up the barn to pay my board, and then have to do 2 loads of laundry, and wash a shit-load of dishes- rotisserie chicke for dinner w/ mashed & corn & pea & gravy.

Sorry..

I tried to post the other night (Friday or Saturday??) and my computer decided to bark back. The 3 photos I chose to upload became only one, and then my cursor wouldn't go into the text box so that i could even complain about it. I do have a draft saved, so I can try again. Having to ride the horse several times a week is making a huge dent in my energy level. Last night I was still cooking my supper at 9:00 pm, and then Bob called, and I didn't eat until close to 9:30.
THAT can't continue or I;ll be too fat to ride the horse!
That bitch bag named Hayley at the barn has left my horse in- the only one- according to the cameras.
I'm going to monitor things there this week as much as possible; I'm not happy at all that I pay board, and there are other people who don't pay anything for 4 horses, and my horse doesn't get out, and her horses all have full day turnout. ANd I don't give a rat's ass if she's boinking the barn owner to do it.

Something New

I started Just Nan's "Christmas Biscornus" on 32 ct. Lambswool Jobelan with DMC threads.

Deb also bought a closing LNS's inventory of Thread Gatherer's Silks. I've been waiting with baited breath to see what colors, and I wasn't disappointed She has the availbale Crescent Colors selection of silks, but I don't find them interesting because they aren't very variagated. These others are just beautiful- I bought 3 skeins (over $6 a piece!), and Deb threw in a pale blue without an identifier tag.
With labels: Top = Hawaiian Sunset, Middle = Autumn Twilight, Bottom =Berry Spritz
Here's a new picture of Delilah:

And a picture of Chicken on her bed in the kitchen, waiting for me to start a fire in the woodstove: (or for some beef stew for supper):

And not to be outdoen, here is Aslan, looking quite gay (as is usual):Off to ride the horse. Hopefully my legs won't hurt quite so long this week.

A finish:

Thoughts of Baby
by Erica Michaels
28 ct. Jobelan "Raspberry Lite"
Crescent Colors "Pricly Pear"
I have the day off because my boss is installing a generator and the power has to be shut off a good part of the day. I've been to Walmart to get a few things, including what was left of the 10 cent DMC floss. I vaccuumed and washed the floor, stripped my bed, inventoried my XS fabric stash, sorted thru a bag of Em's college papers & assorted crap brought home in May, finished "thoughts", kitted for Just Nan's "Christmas Biscornus" and most importantly of all: SLEPT until 8:00 am!!!

New Quilt Stash

Here are the fabrics I bought the other day:
the fat quarters:

here are the quarter yard cuts:the black blobs are big headed kitty cats.

here's my substitute pink for Avery's quilt:

isn"t this one cool?it's called Mythical Horses. I got a whole yard:Here are the 3 drawers I bought for fabric storage:the smaller set on top I'll use for my Weeks Dye work threads, Gentle Arts and Crescent Colors, each to their own drawer.

I've ridden Axe twice this week for about 45 minutes each time. My butt and upper thighs are screaming in agony! Tomorrow my office will be closed while my boss has a generator installed- the electricity has to be shut off for at least 4 hours. It will be the first day I've slept in since Fourth of July- I can't wait! I'll finish Thoughts of Baby & start something new at S&B tomorrow night.

Emily is loving school this year- she's connected with her new roomate & with a bunch of kids in the building and she's having a great time for herself. I'm so happy for her & relieved that a whole new world of friends has opened up for her. She got a cute new haircut today, very stylish

Mind you I trim my own hair with sewing scissors every 4 months or so- I am SO hair care challenged!

Sorry for being M.I.A.

I just don’t seem to have any time anymore. I really want to be at a different barn at the end of the month and quit working at this barn. It took me 7 ¾ hours today, because Hayley, the bitch who took the entire months of July & August off and half of June, who also managed to have Memorial day, Fourth of July AND LABOR DAY OFF!!!!, filled up the stalls with too many shavings. She’s pissed at Emily because the Assface boy told her Emily was spreading a rumor that Hayley had spent the entire summer in a mental hospital. Well Emily doesn’t spread rumors. And I’m pissed at Hayley because she can’t tell the difference between AM & PM, and my horse didn’t get supplements yesterday because she fed the wrong bag at supper yesterday, most likely deliberately. The bitch. The alcoholic , crack smoking bitch.
Well… now that THAT is out of my system!
You know what’s fun about being by myself? I can buy a Haagen Daz flavor that Emily probably wouldn’t like, oh…. like Caramel Cone, and not only eat it right from the container, but I can spray the whipped cream right in the carton too! (she hates whipped cream!)
I bought some large plastic drawers to organize all my quilt stash, and my cross stitch stash. The Fabric Place store near where I work is closing in November. I bought 27 quarter yard cuts or fat quarters for under $45. I got a new pale pink for Avery’s baby quilt (still languishing in a plastic bag as 4” squares), plus a slew of purples. It’s too dark for photos right now. I also almost finished Thoughts of Baby- I added two extra hearts on either side of her name (which involved ripping the chart-required one out) because the length of her name allowed for too much open areas on either side.I will try to post some pix ASAP.

Anyway, for sustenance, here's a photo & the recipe for my gingerbread:
Mother’s Gingerbread

½ cup butter, room temperature
½ cup sugar
1 cup molasses
2 eggs
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup boiling water

Set the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan, or spray with vegetable spray.
Cream the butter and sugar until they are light and fluffy. Beat in the molasses, followed by the eggs.
Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and ginger and beat these dry ingredients into the batter. When the batter is smooth, beat in the boiling water slowly.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and transfer to hot oven. Bake the gingerbread for 30 minutes or until it is firm to the touch, or a toothpick comes out clean when poked. Leave it to settle for a few minutes, then cut into large squares for serving.

I'm Free! I'm Free! oh- OUCH!

Well EMily is back to school. I swear the last month has been just insane She was very diligent in training her horse all summer, then she had a lesson a week with Liz, then the horse went to Liz's for the last week of training, and we moved Em partially into her dorm, then the show, then the rest of moving and a cookout for me, plus two more freakshow horses at the barn, so my day is going to be upwards of 7 hour there now.
I keep starting a list of things I have to do, like vaccuum, and bathe the dog and wash my floors and pay bills (which is what I'm supposed to be doing now) and CLEAN this freekin hell hole. I just have no free time anymore- I want to get out of this barn and go back to working for TWB on Saturdays. PLus, with Emily back at school, now I have to ride at least 3 times a week.

Hence the OUCH in my title- I rode bareback for just 20 minutes, and my backside is SO bruised! Anyway, I made gingerbread for S&B tomorrow (also on my list of things to do).
I'll post pix tomorrow. Meanwhile, here's horse show pix:

My two girls:

Done!
