Please Bear With Me…

I bought my Turbo Tax software and went to install it on Sunday. I got a prompt that said it would not install TurboTax because I did not have Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed. So I mumbled to myself  “Yeah and there’s a reason for that!” and turned the computer off (after browsing aimlessly thru Pinterest for another 15 minutes, thank you Jane, very much!
On Monday I remembered the portable hard drive Em gave me for Xmas 2 years ago, and decided to back up my files. This involved installing the backup software, which took about half an hour and then trying to set the back up parameters i wanted. I pressed “Back up” and there’s no status bar of any kind. I could hear my hard drive chugging away, and the tiny light on the portable was blinking away, but no indication of any kind that anything was working properly. So I let it go over night, and in the morning it showed a message that  the program became non-responsive and that the backup wasn’t complete, but a file was on the drive and it was 20 GB less empty. After I got home, i tried to restore a file, to no avail. Again with the piss-poor instructions. So I un-installed the software, and re-installed it, deleted the  I had backed up, and pressed “Back up”. This time it said “…initializing backup” then gave a percentage of completion.  But again it took so long, I let it go over night again, but in the morning it had the same error message, but a big chunk of GB was used again.
When I got home from work I tried again to restore one of the backed up files again with no success. So I took a deep breath tonight, crossed my fingers and installed Service Pack 3, and since I’m typing this post, everything seems to be working. Except the portable hard drive. I will try installing TurboTax tomorrow, after turning off & re-starting my computer again.
I’ve also been trying to stave off a head cold over the weekend. Yesterday an earache started- every 3-5 minutes it felt like a pencil was being jabbed into my ear. I dug out my bit-warmer rice pack and heated it and held it on my ear for about 2 hours. It was much better this morning.
And that is all.

And Common Sense Prevailed:

Question 1A, for a $1,000,000 override was 874 Yes to 2,089 No or 29.5% to 70.5%
Question 1B, for a $1,700,000 override was 634 Yes to 2,414 No or 20.8% to 79.2%

Makes that screaming red sunburn on my shoulder feel SOOOOO much better (and worth it)!

Calgon Take Me Away!

I've been chopping & pruning & sawing & mowing for the last 3 days and I'm about toast.
But I figured it would be a shame to waste what are probably the last 3 days this summer that are sunny, and not 75% humidity.
I've got my "No Override" sign out front, and we'll see how long those tax and spend liberals leave it alone. "It's aaaaaall for the children!" my ass. It's all about their pensions and 100% paid lifetime health care- at the local, state AND federal level. Where's my frikkin' bailout???!!!
Sorry those aches & pains are coming out....
And tomorrow I'll have the pleasure of renewing my driver's license. When I've checked the wait times online, the best I've seen is 46 minutes. Yahoo. Taxachusetts at its best.

It's The MOST, Wonderful Time of the Year...

Well, I have those dreaded tax and financial aid forms done, awaiting transmission to the proper authorities. Maybe I can get back to blogging with a little more regularity.

The Horse seems to have recovered quite nicely from her swollen ankle, and I'm back in the saddle again. For your visual entertainment:

(This is "A Girl and Her Horse"- not ME and my horse. Can you tell she does hunters?)

No stitching news, though. Maybe tonight? My GAWD why am I getting SO dyslexic!!!???? If I corrected every transposition I make, I'd never  get a sentence completed!! Is anyone else getting more dyslexic as they get older or is it just me?

I forgot to say I had made another pot roast last weekend, and then made hash with the leftovers. Yummy stuff!

This weekend was a roaster chicken, and I just made some chicken salad with leftovers.

Supposed to be warm tomorrow- near 50 degrees. Woo-Hoo!

Fringe on TV tonight; I'm liking that show (I crush on Joshua Jackson, even if he does have a pronounced furrow between his eyebrows) but then I love LOST.

Not much happening..

We had the huge slush storm Friday into Saturday; the barn roof leaked like a sieve. The floor had spalsh-thru puddles. I was done early today though, too icy to send horsies out.

I even beat Bob here.

We went for burgers at the A-frame; Bob at the barn recommended them. They were awesome- 1/2 pound, juicy, cheesy, grilled onions...umm-umm-MMMMM!!

The onion rings were the tenderest I can remember having. The fries were excellent- perfectly cooked. The rings & fries needed some salt as they came out of the fryer, but tasty none the less.

Here's my progress on Thoughts of Spring:

The scanner makes the fabric look blue-ish- it's really just white. The floss loooks grayed here too.
Every one was working on this, so I still haven't gotten back to Kittys.

And we know how annoying THAT is.
Off to the couch- really now- yoiu need to get off this frikkin machine................

Suck, Suck Suck!!

I'm OCD-ing about preparing my tax returns (Emily's too) so that I can THEN do my CSSPRofile & Fafasa.

I just did my return and I'll get a good refund, however I relaized while scanning my Xmas Sampler update that I didn't adjust for cash payments Em & the AF made.

Suck- REDO!

Colts won the SuperBowl-Suck #2!

No stitching this wekend-Suck #3- no time long story but here's the latest on Xmas Sampler:

I'll be angsting over tax-related documents the next few days- I can't be beholden to the blog with that crap hanging over my head. I'll try to get back soon.

Oh- and SUCK #4: bossman has been at work way too much so no stitching there either.
